Overall a wonderful stay. The front desk staff were so wonderfully nice and accommodating. We had a couple of issues with our rooms, first a water damaged ceiling issue they told us about and gave us option to stay or move (damage wasn't that noticeable) but they moved us to another room with terrace. Then the Jacuzzi tub didn't work. They promptly sent someone to look at it but it's wasn't fixable without parts. The front desk sent us a fruit basket along with a very nice apologia note.
The ocean views was incredible, it''s ocean front but the black sand beach is about a 2 min walk. There is a big grocery store across the street. Several restaurants within walking distance.
We had dinner there our first night and food was pretty good.
The spa was ok. The indoor "heated" pool was pretty chilly and the sauna was only working "sometimes". We didn't have a treatment but the rooms were nice and had two for couples.
We left early for our flight so they made us to-go bags.
The only thing I would fix would be the breakfast staff. There was only one young man that was incredibly pleasant, everyone else was a bit cold. They all seemed unhappy to be there.
So I’ll start by mentioning the good things:
-Location is great, in a well lit area in front of a lot of local shops for whatever you need.
-all the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
-the view of the sea is very nice.
-the outdoor pool is good
-the gym is clean and new.
What I didn’t like: (and this is not a reflection on the staff but the management who are making these bad decisions)
- the soap and shampoo dispensers looked like something you would find in a gym not at a “5 star hotel” it felt cheap. Typically 5 star hotels give you some luxury brand soap and shampoo.
-the one ply toilet paper is cheap and you go through a lot. Why do this? Does toilet paper really mean that much?
- the room service was horrible; we ordered three times.. all three times were very bad. They take very long to bring the food, the menu is very limited and not friendly for vegetarians, and here’s the best part… they ask if you want to pick it up yourself or if they should bring it to the room for an extra charge! It’s called room service. The last time we got room service from them we had to call after an hour asking about our order only to find out that they forgot our room number.
-the breakfast buffet is so bad.. I couldn’t eat anything. Everything was dry and overcooked and what’s worse is there is a machine dispenser for coffee rather than freshly brewing it. Again not what you’d expect from a “5 star hotel”
-the room was basic, nothing special about it but it had all the amenities expected in a hotel.
-the concierge wasn’t very helpful; we asked for assistance with a booking and he told us it was fully booked. I called a local that I knew and he immediately got me a booking without hesitation.
-this is a silly one but it matters; we were put in a room towards the end of the hotel. The hallway walking to the room is not air conditioned so you’re sweating by the time you reach your room. It isn’t very well designed.
If this hotel wasn’t in Azores I think it would get a 3 star rating.
If I’m being nice I would give it a 3.5 star.
Please management you have a great location you need to do more with what you have to make it special.
I personally would not stay here again.
Nice location, our suite was clean and spacious, with beautiful views of the ocean. It had nice amenities, friendly staff and for the majority of travelers it checks all the boxes, but to describe it as a "5 star hotel" is an exaggeration. Parking was easy and it was across the street from a supermarket which was very convenient and a huge plus.
It was a great stay. We stayed for 10 days and were very happy with the rooms, pools and the friendly staff.
The only thing which was not perfect was the food. There was not much of a choice, so after a few days we repaetedly ate the same dinner over and over again. But the dinner which was offered was very good.
The hotel has a great location. Sea view from the pools and restaurant. The hotel is probably not the newest, it has been operating for years and the age of the hotel is visible in some places. Other 5-star hotels is at a higher level. Sometimes I felt here like at all inclusive hotel for travel agencies.
The outdoor pool is nice, the water is pleasantly warm. Wellness is nice and sufficient.
The dinners in the restaurant are fantastic. There is a large selection at breakfast.
The staff is very pleasant.
Stayed here for a week with my fiancé and my parents. I have stayed other places in Sao Miguel but they all pale in comparison, there is nothing bad that can be said about this hotel the best bang for your buck by far! A big thank you to (I am not very good at spelling names) Louis Silva and Joel Capbral amazing customer service anytime of day! Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking!❤️❤️👍
We loved this hotel and had a spectacular experience! We stayed in a room next to the pool deck with a private terrace and ocean views, and could not have been happier. The spa facilities and heated indoor pool were satisfying, and the breakfast buffet exceeded our expectations. Great location walking distance to the town center, and very close to the beach. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Sao Miguel.
Hotel very clean. Lots of amenities. Staff go above and beyond. Ocean view is exceptional. Great location. Great value. Easy parking. Pools and saunas/steam rooms are impeccable! A fantastic location for getting to anywhere on the island. Staff even had a breakfast to go prepared for us as we had to leave earlier than the prepared breakfast time! Will definitely stay here again!
